Colossians 2:6-7 NIV REFLECTION: If we ever struggle to be thankful, it is often because we have lost sight of what we have. We can also become overly preoccupied with wanting more. Paul writes that he is always thankful. If we reflect on this and on the life he lived, it should awaken a sense of awe in us. How could he be thankful in everything and at all times? He dealt with great suffering and mistreatment. He was beaten, slandered, and despised for the sake of Jesus Christ, yet he was still thankful. How? Paul kept his eyes fixed on Jesus and his eyes firmly fixed on His resurrection. He knew that his momentary afflictions were just that: momentary. He needed nothing more, nor did he lack anything else. His contentment lay in knowing that a great reward awaited him. He had confidence that Jesus would take care of him in the future.
